Ochre Home x Paper Carpenter: Sacred Bearers

In April 2022, Geraldine (The Ochre Home) and Paper Carpenter, a local sustainable cardboard design agency, created a spatial art installation in the main foyer of the Asian Civilizations Museum Singapore (ACM) as part of the Singapore Heritage Festival 2022. Drawing inspiration from the museum's festival theme titled 'The Wild & Wonderful', the installation comprised of both living and mythical flora and fauna sculptures and motifs (such as the legendary Makara, hornbill, butterflies, koi fish, and chrysanthemums) that are exhibited throughout ACM in the form of displays and artefacts as part of its heritage trail.

The installation was conceptualized by Geraldine and ACM, and crafted into sustainable cardboard sculptures by Paper Carpenter, which were then individually hand painted with acrylic paint that culminated in a set up mimicking a natural landscape with animals that were seen as protectors and sacred beings in ancient Asian history.
